A Blue Frame of Mind DIY

Learn how to re-create this beachy, Barbados-inspired, DIY shell art.

Our frame of mind these days is all things blue and we’re blaming it on our obsession with Barbados. However, it’s not everyday we find ourselves sun soaked under blue skies with ombre tides rolling in at our feet. Most of the time, we daydream at home and try to curate a life reminiscent of our favorite days beachin’ it.

Today, we’re framing up a little bit of blue, and believe us, you don’t need to be an artist to nail this one!

What you’ll need:

  • Foam core board
  • Exacto knife
  • Small frame
  • Cotton fabric
  • Spray adhesive
  • Blue limpet shells
  • Glue gun and glue sticks

Begin by cutting your foam core board to fit the backside of your frame using an exacto knife and cut the fabric to wrap slightly around the foam core board.

Using your spray adhesive, spray the foam core board, and place the fabric on top pressing down and ensuring no air pockets are visible.

Arrange your shells on the fabric colored board. Once you have everything placed, you can begin gluing them down one by one.

In less than a few minutes, you’ve created a one amazing work of art!
